Role: School Business Manager
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 8.30 – 4.00pm, 36 weeks a year, plus 4 weeks working outside of term times on a flexible basis.
Salary: £22,500 - £25,000 pro-rata
Contract: Permanent
Mayfield School is looking to appoint a highly motivated, forward thinking individual who would be willing to work towards a School Business Manager role to join it as a key member of the administration team. You will be involved in the day to day support that enables the school to operate effectively and efficiently, allowing other staff to focus on teaching and learning. Alongside the current bursar, you will be assisting with the strategy and operation of the business functions of our school, including financial management, health and safety, human resources, compliance and administration.

As part of the School Business Manager Development Role, the successful candidate will be expected:
- To manage the purchase ledger, input invoices including allocating VAT correctly, making payments in an efficient and timely manner always considering the cash flow of the school
- To raise termly school fee invoices, or when required, including any additional charges, allocating VAT correctly
- To submit termly Early Years Education Entitlement returns to the Local Authority
- To run a monthly payroll
- To assist the Bursar in managing and maintaining school buildings, working with the caretaker to ensure that essential works are completed
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety Policies
- Ensuring that all regular compliance checks and tasks are completed
- Developing knowledge on HR policies and procedures including employment law
- Handle schools contracts and supplies, ensuring that the best value for money is achieved
- Assisting the Head on the general running of the school (not including educational areas)
- Understanding the areas and roles within the school environment and then working towards the School Business Manager qualification with succession planning into the role
- Assisting with the general administration needed within a school
- Covering for the School Secretary when required
- Be a first aider willing to treat injuries and illness
