The Diocese has 11 state-funded Catholic secondary schools in Sussex and Surrey, offering students an excellent secondary education that will prepare them for life in Church and society (state-funded secondary schools are free and do not require fees). The Diocesan Guidance on Admissions supports schools in providing clear, transparent and robust admission arrangements. The four model policies and SIFs for schools to choose provide consistency in format and content across all schools which helps parents when applying for schools for their children.
All schools are required to comply with the DfE's School Admissions Code and School Admission Appeals Code, the purpose of which is to ensure that all school places for maintained schools and academies are allocated and offered in an open and fair way, and that the appeals process that is followed if parents do not get a place is fair and robust.
