People from across our community of faith are invited to join Bishop Richard at Adoremus 2024, the National Eucharistic Congress taking place at St Mary’s College, Oscott, Birmingham, on Saturday 14 September.

The Catholic Church in England and Wales: bishops, priests and people from all dioceses, will gather at the College for a day of renewing and deepening devotion to the Eucharist.

When the event was announced last year, Canon Chris Thomas, general secretary of the Bishops’ Conference said: “We’re going to be looking for people from all over the country to come together to adore the Lord in the Eucharist, to deepen their Eucharist theology and celebrate our Eucharistic faith together.” Around 1,500 Catholics in total are expected. The bishops expressed hopes that every diocese in England and Wales would send at least one coachful of pilgrims.

The first Eucharistic procession since the Reformation took place at Oscott, after the re-establishment of the hierarchy in September 1850, when Pope Pius IX appointed the first new bishops for England and Wales for more than 200 years. You can find out more about about the restoration of the hierarchy on Westminster Cathedral's website.

The event-packed day will include a keynote address, Mass, a Eucharistic Procession and Benediction and a range of campus activities including a Carlo Acutis presentation, Rosary walk and Adoration in the Chapel.

Our Diocese has organised a coach, which will depart from St Wilfrid’s Catholic School at 6.45am on the day and the cost per person is £40 (which includes parking at St Wilfrid's, coach travel and entry to the event).
