30,000 Christians gathered for the Big Church Festival at the Wiston Estate over the Bank Holiday weekend for an amazing celebration of faith, including about 50 people from our diocese. Bishop Richard celebrated Mass on Sunday morning for the hundreds of Catholics in attendance who had travelled from all over the country (and beyond!), with music led by One Hope Project. Bishop Richard’s homily on the Holy Trinity was incredibly thought provoking, reminding us that we are all invited into the uniting love of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The glorious grounds of Wiston House were an amazing venue for the many music, storytelling and spoken word stages, with the "Field of Fun" greatly appreciated by the many families in attendance.
The highlight of the weekend was being amidst the vibrant Body of Christ as attendees delighted in the glory of God and His wonderful creation, with further high points the Watoto Children’s Choir, whose joyful energy was both uplifting and inspiring and Rend Collective, who led beautiful worship on the Main Stage.
In 2025, Big Church Festival is set to get even bigger, and after 15 years of meeting in May, it will be moving to the August Bank Holiday weekend. Speaking about the new date the organisers said:
“We’re super excited and have some big changes ahead, including adding an extra day to make a full 3 days of festival fun”.
