St Oscar Romero Catholic School welcomed Worthing Deanery primary schools to the annual Deanery Conference Day on Tuesday. Students reflected on the theme of 'Life in the Spirit' this year, with a number of activities taking place across departments. These ranged from burning foods to discover their calorie content - as students reflected on being sustained by the Spirit; practicing survival skills and team work - as they reflected on Jesus' time in the desert being led by the Spirit; and food tech, where students created their own Holy Spirit biscuits. Other activities included music, dance, and rock climbing.
Bishop Richard joined students as they paused in prayer during a special liturgy to reflect further on the Holy Spirit and all that He does for us. After lunch, the schools really got down to business, putting their gifts and talents to use, as they competed for the highly coveted Deanery Sports Cup, with St Peter's Catholic Primary School in Shoreham crowned as this year's champions.
