Congratulations to Bly Twomey, who has become Great Britain’s youngest Paralympic table tennis medallist! Her first medal was a bronze in the women’s doubles alongside Fliss Pickard (WD14 classification event), followed by another bronze in the Women’s Class 7 Singles for which she ranks 4th in the world.

Bly, who is 14 years old and attends Cardinal Newman Catholic School in Hove, was one of the youngest members of ParalympicsGB at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris. Bly also won the 'Sporting Star' at the Child of Sussex Awards last month.

She began playing table tennis in 2021 at a multi-sport session hosted by Brighton Table Tennis Club for children with special educational needs and disabilities and those that receive free school meals. Brighton Table Tennis Club is based in the Fitzherbert Community Hub, at St John the Baptist Church, Parish of East Brighton.

Before heading to Paris, Bly told BBC Sport “Table tennis makes all my worries go away”. She also explained that her school is very supportive and Helen Tate, a teacher at Cardinal Newman School, described how Bly has raised the profile of parasport in the school, telling the BBC “We are so proud of her and incredibly thrilled."
