New Chaplaincy Coordinator for our diocesan schools

September 2, 2024

Theresa McNamara, Chaplain at St Philip Howard School, has been appointed Chaplaincy Coordinator, working in the diocesan Education Service. Theresa writes:

"I am Theresa McNamara and I am so excited to be taking on the position of Chaplaincy Coordinator, working one day a week with the diocesan Education Service.
"For the past 11 years, I have had the immense privilege of working in Catholic schools developing and supporting Chaplaincy provision. Through this work, I am continuously moved and amazed by the Holy Spirit at work in the lives of the young people in our diocese.
"As a homegrown A&B girl, I have experienced many different aspects of our Catholic faith; in my family home, in my own education (at St Philip Howard Catholic School in Barnham and then at St Mary's University in Twickenham), and in our wonderful church of Our Lady of Sorrows, Bognor Regis.
"At St Mary's I studied Theology and then, as I had no intention of leaving after only three years, I stayed on to complete a Masters degree in Bioethics and Medical Law. Whilst there, I also met my wonderful husband Dan through the University Chaplaincy. We now have two children and love growing in faith alongside them.
"In this role, I am looking forward to walking alongside the other chaplains in the diocese as we continue to support each other, develop our skills, and look to the future of our mission in schools with the hope and joy of the Lord."
