The children of English Martyrs Catholic Primary School in Worthing are currently working towards earning a CAFOD LiveSimply award. Before the summer holidays, the children took photos of simple things that bring them joy, house captains then used these ideas to create a LiveSimply pledge for the children to follow over the holidays - this included actions such as praying the LiveSimply prayer, asking for less, saying 'thank you' more, spending time in nature, and showing those that they love how much they appreciate them.

They also pledged to make the most of every moment of the holidays!

With the start of the Autumn term, children have returned their pledges and have been awarded certificates and badges for their hard work over the holidays. They are now looking forward to holding their second community beach clean in their local area this weekend.

‍To apply for a LiveSimply award a school needs to commit to actions demonstrating that they are living simply, sustainably and in solidarity with the poorest communities. By signing up to LiveSimply, a school positively impacts our global family, their local community and their school community, reflecting the teachings of Pope Francis' Encyclical Letter Laudato Si’ and Catholic Social Teaching.
