With the help of the diocesan Fundraising Officer, Bognor Regis and Slindon parish has received over £9,900 of National Lottery Community Funding to support their new audio-visual project. The project will improve the church building and make it a better space for everyone.
The sound system at Our Lady of Sorrows church in Bognor Regis has been in need of renewal for quite some time. The National Lottery Community Fund grant is supporting the installation of a completely new sound system (including deaf loop), and integrated screens and cameras which will enable everyone to hear and engage more fully with parish activities. This installation also integrates the choir into the main sound system. The parish have enjoyed some wonderful concerts (organ and choir) in the past, and the new system gives them new and exciting opportunities for future celebrations.
Speaking about the project, parishioners at Our Lady of Sorrows said:
‘This refurbishment would help me to be more engaged – screens with words would be great because singing is better when you’re looking up rather than down, and it would just be great to be able to hear everything clearly.’
‘Our parishioners, and anyone we welcome to the Church, all have different ways of engaging and learning. Having a variety of ways to communicate will help reach out to people in ways that suit them.’
Bognor Regis and Slindon parish were able to apply for the National Lottery Community Fund for this project as it is striving to make the parish building more inclusive for the community. If your parish has any projects that support the local community or small building works that improve the parish space, please contact the diocesan Fundraising Officer to discuss your project and for help submitting an application.
