The Nativity Scene in Queen’s Square, Crawley has celebrated the 60th anniversary of its display. Fr Raymond Tumba from The Friary commemorated the occasion during a meeting with the area's Member of Parliament, Henry Smith. Mr Smith said:
“I was delighted to meet Fr Raymond in Crawley’s Queen’s Square to celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Friary’s Nativity scene being displayed in our town centre again this Advent season.
“The Roman Catholic Church’s contribution to our Crawley community over many decades and throughout each year is significant. This fine tradition of placing a Nativity scene so the true message of Christmas is reminded to busy shoppers is much appreciated and a welcome, familiar sight to us in Crawley.”
Fr Raymond added: "May the seasons of Advent and Christmas bring us closer to our loved ones and to one another. We are forever grateful to all those, living and dead, who maintained and installed the Nativity scene every year in the Crawly Queen’s Square."
