As the general election approaches, political parties have unveiled their key proposals, offering a glimpse into their visions for the future of our nation.
The Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN) has produced a booklet summarising a number of their early proposals "setting the stage for the [political parties'] detailed manifestos". CSAN is the domestic social action agency of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales. By examining the preliminary plans from the Conservatives, Labour, The Liberal Democrats, Reform, Green and Plaid Cymru parties it aims to equip voters with the knowledge they need to navigate the political landscape, understand the core issues at stake, and make informed decisions at the ballot box on 4 July 2024.
CSAN has also published a resource called Do Justice: A Vision for Spiritual and Civic Renewal in England and Wales. The booklet sets out a renewed vision for the nations of England and Wales, centred on Christ and Catholic Social Teaching. It is an invitation to the Catholic communities of England and Wales to fulfil ever more deeply our baptismal vocation and it is the foundation of Do Justice. It could be a good place to begin your preparations for a Catholic response to the General Election, underpinned by Gospel-inspired principles. You can access it towards the bottom of this page.
