The art department at St Richard’s in Bexhill were delighted to welcome the world renowned artist and educator, Ian Murphy, into school to run workshops over two days.
Pupils were astounded to walk into the art rooms as they were filled with Ian's canvases, drawings, and his incredible sketchbooks. Ian believes that allowing the pupils to see and touch his artwork is a really important part of the introductory process to art and is an invaluable way to motivate the pupils for the challenges of the workshops.
Pupils created a variety of textured surfaces to work on before experimenting with new drawing techniques. They used pen, graphite and acrylic to discover new ways of creating tone in these incredible pieces.
A wonderful day was had by all participants.
