Fr Stephen Hardaker, Deacon Bernard, Deacon Neil and the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes, Rottingdean, welcomed Bishop Richard on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, for the Induction of Anita Philbrook as Headteacher at Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School.  

The school is part of the Schools Singing Programme and Mass began with the candles being lit as the pupils, led by Sussex Choral Director Billie Robson, sang the Nunc Dimittis. Former and present staff, deanery colleagues, governors, family and the Diocesan Education Service were present to hear Bishop Richard talk of "light and hope" - the themes of today’s readings - and how they find expression in the mission of our Catholic schools.

The pupils also sang the psalm and Communion motet and read the Prayer of the Faithful, and the hall was packed afterwards as the celebrations continued.
