L-R: Fr Graham Forristalle SDB, Parish Priest; Julie Oldroyd, Director of Education; James Kibble, CEO of Xavier CET; Carmel Martin, Head of School; Marguerite Lydon, Chair of Governors; Leanne Harris, Xavier Local Director of Primary Education and Bishop Richard.

On Sunday 20 October, the parish of St Anne’s, Chertsey, came together for the Induction Mass for Carmel Martin as Head of School of St Anne's Catholic Primary School. The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Richard, assisted by Fr Graham Forristalle SDB, Fr Kevin O’Donnell, SDB and Bro. Steven Teye Mensah SDB. Joining Carmel were family and friends including those who had travelled from Northern Ireland, colleagues from the school and Xavier Catholic Education Trust.

Bishop Richard spoke of the vocation to teaching and the call to service before formally inducting Carmel. A choir of pupils sang the St Anne’s song including the words of St John Bosco, from their Mission Statement,

“It is not enough to love children. They must know that they are loved.”

A lovely celebration with home-made cakes followed Mass.
