In this episode, Fr Kevin Dring helps unpack the wonderful gift of reconciliation and shares the peace and healing it can bring us.
Fr Kevin describes the Sacrament of Reconciliation as "a meeting with the Lord, who knows you perfectly and loves you perfectly." He tells us: "Don’t be anxious. Don’t worry about what you need to say. Obviously, try and prepare. But the Lord knows, He reads your heart. So the words are only the tip. The Lord sees deep into your true needs. Healing and the strength to change - that’s what the Lord offers. The strength, the courage, the confidence to change our life and we will not find that healing and strength anywhere else, in the way that we do in this sacrament."
Fr Kevin finishes with "a few words from the end of the second reading on the 4th Sunday of Lent, [...] St Paul to the Ephesians. St Paul loved the Ephesian community. There’s so much affection and encouragement in all of his words. And he says this to them, and he says this to us: 'It is by grace that you have been saved through faith. And this is not from yourselves. It’s the gift of God. Not by works, so that you can boast, for we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.'”
