Invited Episode 5 is live! This week's episode is on the theme "Summit"

March 18, 2024

In this episode, Fr Gabriel Dobson talks about Holy Week and the richness of the liturgies during Holy Week, and then the celebration of the Easter liturgies.

Fr Gabriel reminds us that Holy Week is "the height of our Christian year" and in his talk walks us through the events of Holy Week and our commemoration of them. He explores how we move from the joy and "hosannas" of the beginning of Palm Sunday into the sorrow of the Passion Gospel, and then through the events of Holy Week: the anointing of Jesus' feet at Bethany, the betrayal of Jesus by Judas, and Peter's assertion that "l will never betray you". We are encouraged to make Holy Week a time of quietness and preparation and then explore the Holy Week Liturgies, including the Chrism Mass where the oils that we use in our sacraments are blessed by Bishop Richard, and all the priests renew their priestly promises.

In the second part of the talk, we focus on the Easter Triduum: one liturgy celebrated over three days: Holy Thursday, the evening Mass of the Lord's Supper, which remembers the Passover Meal the meal which Jesus celebrated with His disciples and the institution of the Holy Eucharist; Good Friday, the commemoration of the Lord's Passion, and Holy Saturday, when we celebrate with renewed appreciation and joy that Jesus is alive and that we are alive in Him.
