Jubilee of Hope – Diocesan Celebrations

December 10, 2024

Pope Francis has decided that 2025 will be a year of Jubilee – something which happens every 25 years – with the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”. The Jubilee will offer people across our global family of faith an important opportunity to re-establish a proper relationship with God, with one another, and with all of creation. In order for everyone to share in the celebration of the Holy Year, the following diocesan churches have been designated as special places of pilgrimage, where Holy Year Indulgences may be gained:

  • Arundel Cathedral, Arundel BN18 9AY
  • Worth Abbey, Crawley, RH10 4SB
  • St Joseph’s, Guildford, GU1 4AZ

35 million pilgrims are expected to visit Rome in 2025, with a number of Jubilee celebrations also planned in our Diocese, including:

  • 29 December: Mass at Arundel Cathedral: Bishop Richard will mark the beginning of the Jubilee Year with Mass at Arundel Cathedral at 11am
  • 15 March: CYMfed Flame: Young people across our Diocese are invited to journey to Wembley for a day of music and worship like no other!
  • 6 to 8 June: Diocesan Jubilee Pilgrimage to Walsingham
  • 25 to 31 July: Diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage
  • 28 July to 4 August: Youth Pilgrimage to Rome: find out more here
  • 9 to 24 August Ecumenical Walking Pilgrimage 50th Anniversary: find out more here
  • 20 September: Festival of Hope, 60thAnniversary of the Diocese: a celebration at the South of England Showground at Ardingly
