Gemma, a Neonatal Nurse and keen dancer at Dance Central Sussex, has been traveling to Lourdes as part of our diocesan Lourdes pilgrimage for a number of years looking after sick and disabled children. It is a special year for the pilgrimage with a range of celebrations and events planned to mark its 50th anniversary – including a ‘50 at 50 Challenge’ to raise much-needed funds to support our pilgrimage group.
Keen to support the 50:50 Challenge, Dance Central Sussex, are aiming to complete 50 dances on Sunday 7 April at Allwoods Garden Centre in Hassocks, offering participants the opportunity to enjoy line dancing, strolling and jiving and raise funds to support children with health conditions or impairments in making their pilgrimage, for a week of fun and faith with other children. A representative from the Dance School said:
“[We knew we] could dance for 50 minutes - we do that already - so we came up with a 50 Dance Challenge! It is open to all Dance Central dancers and also to the public, anyone is welcome to join in… Why not pop down for a spot of lunch or a cuppa and a slice of their many yummy cakes! Our Dance Central family will certainly enjoy the day and all are very much looking forward to it. Not forgetting of course the reason for the event. [We are] pleased to support Gemma and this fabulous charity! We are hoping to raise enough funds for one, if not two children to travel on the next Pilgrimage.”
