The Charles Plater Trust (CPT) small grants round opened last week with grants of up to £5,000 available to fund year-long initiatives that tackle need in parishes, deprived communities, or amongst marginalised groups. The Charles Plater Trust is an independent charitable organisation that makes grants to a wide range of religious and non-religious organisations, people, and groups, supporting leadership, social action, and applied research projects across England and Wales.
Zino Prince Kashandi from Sandwell Youth in Action (pictured third from right above) received a small grant in 2022, speaking about the award he said:
“The funding we got was for our ex-offender employment club to help integrate BAME young people back into society. It’s overwhelming to see how much funding can do in a community like mine. While you might call the funding small, the impact of that funding is huge. We have already supported five young people to find jobs, and nine to access training, so it really does change lives and show that young people can reach their potential.”
Philomena Cullen, CPT's Trust Manager said:
“The not-for-profit sector in England and Wales is the engine on the ground delivering vital services every day, in every community. We understand the significant challenges small charities face to keep that engine going. We believe in each organisation we fund. We believe in what they do, and how they do it. We know that by investing in them, we are positively impacting the communities they work with.”
Any small charity with an annual income below £100,000 is eligible to apply. The online application form can be found on The Charles Plater Trust website here. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 10 October 2023.
