The Bartimaeus project is an initiative of a group of parish priests to help us understand our faith more deeply. The title recalls the plea of the blind Bartimaeus: “Lord that I might see”. Focusing on questions people often ask, the next group of four sessions reflects on the relationship between faith, reason, and science.
Each session is on a Thursday evening from 7:30-9:30pm. After a short period of prayer, the speaker addresses a live audience in their own parish, which is streamed via Zoom to other groups gathered in parish halls and rooms elsewhere in the diocese, and individuals joining online. After the talk there will be an opportunity for discussion, both where people are gathered and online, followed by a time for all involved to ask the speaker questions.
The first session of the coming season will take place on Thursday 29th September. Fr Stephen Dingley, will ask:
Why seeing isn’t believing:
what sort of a thing is faith?
Fr Stephen will be speaking at Our Lady of Sorrows Church Hall, Lower Road, Effingham, KT24 5JP, but he will be ‘Zooming’ around the diocese. You can join in online, or at one of the following locations:
