The diocesan Education Service is delighted to report that Teach SouthEast was judged ‘Outstanding’ across the board after being inspected by Ofsted in Early February 2023. Teach SouthEast is a SCITT (school-centred initial teacher training) provider led by the Xavier Catholic Education Trust and based at Salesian School in Chertsey, Surrey. Training for the primary phase takes place in a dedicated space at St Anne’s Catholic Primary School in Chertsey .
The inspection report was extremely positive in its praise. Just one of the comments said:
“Trainees are highly regarded by headteachers, are superbly prepared for their careers in teaching and are making a notably significant impact on teacher recruitment.”
Leaders of the Xavier CET and Teach SouthEast are determined that the Teach SouthEast programme becomes a front-runner in teacher education. The programme has cemented exceptional relationships to partner schools that extend beyond the Catholic sector and ensures that the impact of great teachers become instrumental to pupils, parents and schools both now and in the future. A representative from the diocesan Education Service said:
"The Diocese is grateful and thankful to Teach SouthEast for the contribution and quality it brings to the development of effective teacher training in the diocese."
